Latest NewsBenji’s Orders Cancelled but Resistance Campaign Continues In early May ’09, Benji Lewis received written notice from the Marine Corps that he was being offered the option to accept or decline his orders to mobilize (i.e., rejoin the active duty Marines). He emphatically declined. Some might suggest that the battle is therefore won. Benji disagrees and will continue to work on behalf of the many war resisters in the U.S., Canada, and indeed, on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. His speaking tour is ongoing and may expand soon. The themes, in Benji’s words: “…it is necessary for our society’s preservation to begin questioning our inherent militarism” and to support those who refuse participation in “…the continued maintenance and creation of empire through military intervention and global abuses of economic tyranny.”
